January 26th, 2007 by roddy

One Ton CO2 Sponsored the Green Cup Challenge with 20 shirts for the winning student and faculty teams.

“Today, on January 26, Phillips Exeter Academy will join 14 other private independent schools from seven states, in the Green Cup Challenge (GCC).

It’s an interscholastic, energy conservation competition created for more than 12,000 students, faculty, staff and community members to jointly combat global warming. This is the fourth year for GCC; and its second year competing with other schools. Prior to that, PEA competed between dormitories and administration buildings on campus.

Our office would like to thank you and your company for supporting our GCC with product donations and gifts, which demonstrates commitment and sincerity to the goals of sustainability. We appreciate that involvement and hope we can grow our relationship.”

TreeHugger.com

“Founded to raise awareness about global warming and support regional carbon offset efforts, the One Ton CO2 project has designed a line of t-shirts whose sale helps them offset carbon emissions. They purchase carbon offsets from the Chicago Climate Exchange, who sell credits of third-party-verified carbon dioxide reductions that have been quantified in metric tons. The One Ton CO2 project buys them, and retires one metric ton of CO2 for each t-shirt (using American Apparel’s organic t’s) that is sold.”
